First of all, what are regular polyester and recycled polyester?
Regular polyester
As we all know, the yarn of ordinary polyester fabric is made from petroleum, it has higher tensile strength and elongation than cotton fiber, and has a good heat resistance and thermal stability. Because of its many excellent properties, it is widely used in clothing, home textiles, decoration ,and industrial products.
Recycled Polyester
Also known as recycled RPET, it is a new type of environmentally friendly recycled fabric whose yarns are made from waste mineral water bottles and Coke bottles. The products made of this material are all waste reused and have a good function of environmental protection. It has the advantage of good wrinkle resistance and shape retention. Recycled yarn can reduce the use of petroleum, and each ton of finished yarn can solve 6 tons of petroleum. This makes a contribution to reducing air pollution and controlling the greenhouse effect.
So, what is the difference between these two?
First, the performance is different.
Polyester fiber strength and other properties are relatively good, while the strength of recycled polyester and other properties is relatively poor.
Second, the raw material is different.
As said above, the raw material of polyester is petroleum, while the raw material of recycled polyester is waste plastic bottles.
What are the characteristics of polyester?
1. High strength.
Its wet state strength is basically the same as its dry state strength. The impact strength is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose fiber. Therefore, sportswear made of polyester is more wear-resistant than sportswear made of other materials.
2. Good elasticity.
The elasticity of polyester is close to that of wool, and when the fabric is stretched by 5% -6%, it can almost fully recover its original shape. Wrinkle resistance exceeds other fibers, that is, clothes do not crease, have good dimensional stability, not easy to deformation.
3. Heat resistance.
The melting point of polyester is relatively high, so the heat resistance and adiabaticity of polyester fiber are higher.
In addition, the polyester fabric also has light resistance, thermoplastic and other characteristics.
Recycled polyester not only includes the above characteristics, but also has environmental characteristics. However, the price of recycled polyester is a bit higher than the price of regular polyester. But this is definitely not the reason why you should not choose recycled fabrics. Recycled fabrics put more emphasis on protecting the earth's environment and improving the sustainability of human development.
